Each year, we continue to expand the list of faculty, staff and alumni from UW Bothell who have received grants from the Fulbright Program, the country’s most prestigious exchange program whose mission is to deepen global engagement.

- Charity Lovitt, Biological Sciences: 2023 Fulbright Scholar Award to teach chemistry courses at Qatar University
- Wanda Gregory, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: 2022 Fulbright-National Science Foundation Arctic Research Award and 2022 Fulbright Specialist Award (carried out in 2023) to teach at Reykjavik University and to advance research on Virtual Realty to aid patients with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a life-threatening chronic disease that weakens the nervous system
- Salwa Al-Noori, Biological Sciences: 2022 Fulbright Scholar Award to Jordan to engage in an interdisciplinary project, Culturally-Responsive STEM Teaching Focused on MENA-US Learning Spaces – Promoting International Collaboration and Globalized Perspectives, at Hashemite University
- David Goldstein, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: 2021 Fulbright Scholar Award to Japan to teach American studies courses at several universities in Tokyo
- Jed Murr, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: 2021 Fulbright Scholar Award to Slovenia to teach Ethnic American Literature at the University of Ljubljana, and lead a seminar at the World of Art School for Curatorial Practices and Critical Writing
- Alka Kurian, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences: 2021 Fulbright Scholar Award to Morocco to interview feminist activists and guest lecture at the University of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Fez
- Brent Lagesse, Computing and Software Systems: 2018 Fulbright Scholar Award to the United Kingdom to research crowd sensing applications in cybersecurity, with leading researchers from the University of Cambridge
- Michael Stiber, Computing and Software Systems: 2017 Fulbright Scholar Award to the Czech Republic to investigate how brain cells encode information with colleagues at Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague
- Natalia Dyba, Global Initiatives: 2017 Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Seminar to India to learn about the higher education system in India and make institutional connections
- Keya Sen, School of STEM: 2016-2018 Fulbright Global Scholar Award to research the spread of pathogens by crows in India, Bangladesh and China
- Elaine Scott, School of STEM: 2016 Fulbright Specialist Award to Australia to consult on STEM curriculum development at the University of New England in Armidale
- Dan Jaffe, Chemistry: 2014 Fulbright Scholar Distinguished Chair Award to Italy to teach and research on global pollution, climate, energy and sustainability at the Universita Degli Studi in Naples
- Emily Christian, Student Affairs: 2013 International Education Administrators Seminar to Germany to learn about the higher education system in Germany and make institutional connections
- Jeanne Heuving, Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences: 1996 Fulbright Scholar research and teaching position at Goteborg University in Sweden

- Helen Thomas, MA in Cultural Studies ‘16: 2020-21 Fulbright Research/ Study grant to Nigeria to pursue an independent project entitled, “Cultivating Self-Determination and Global Citizenship in Girls Through Young Adult Literature” (postponed to 2021-22)
- Hana Bloedel, Global Studies, Society, Ethics and Human Behavior ’18: 2019-20 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in Estonia
- Mariah Crystal (formerly Ortiz), MA in Policy Studies: 2019-20 Fulbright Research/ Study grant in Namibia to analyze oral history narratives of women who contributed to the anti-apartheid movement and use of feminine iconography to further the Namibian War of Independence
- Philip Palios, Culture, Literature and the Arts ’18: 2018-19 Fulbright Research/ Study grant in the United Kingdom to pursue a Master’s degree in Environment, Culture and Communication at the University of Glasgow Dumfries campus in southwest Scotland
