UW Bothell recognized as Fulbright institution

The University of Washington Bothell ranks among the top producing institutions for Fulbright scholars in the 2017-18 academic year.

With three scholars, UW Bothell is listed among the top master’s institutions in The Chronicle of Higher Education, based on information provided by the Fulbright program. The University of Washington is listed near the top of research institutions with 11 Fulbright scholars.

The three UW Bothell Fulbright scholars are:

Natalia Dyba, global initiatives — 2017 Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Seminar to India to learn about the higher education system in India and make institutional connections;

Michael Stiber, computing and software systems — 2017 Fulbright Scholar Award to the Czech Republic to investigate how brain cells encode information with colleagues at Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague; and

Brent Lagesse, computing and software systems — 2018 Fulbright Scholar Award to the United Kingdom to research crowd sensing applications in cybersecurity, with leading researchers from the University of Cambridge.

UW Bothell’s standing is due in part to the work Dyba does as global initiatives director. Dyba’s office promotes the Fulbright program on campus, organizes information sessions each spring, and offers individual consultations to faculty, staff, students and alumni.
