Electrical Engineering Teaching Labs
Electrical engineering has two laboratory spaces well-equipped with industry-standard equipment to support teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, senior capstone projects and master’s theses. Students apply what they learn in the classroom, experiment hands-on, solve real-world engineering problems, and gain exposure to the tools needed to succeed as an electrical engineer.
Each lab features 12 test benches prearranged with a desktop computer and basic electronic instruments, including a power supply, waveform generator, digital multimeter, and digital oscilloscope. The computers have useful engineering software installed such as Matlab and LabView. Basic circuit components such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, op amps, diodes, and transistors are available so students can explore their own design problems.
Students build, test, and analyze the circuitry from their electrical engineering courses, including circuits of diode, MOSFETs, BJT, OP Amps, and digital systems. The labs support open-ended design problems for student research projects. Throughout the carefully crafted teaching lab courses, students learn everything from basic operations to more sophisticated applications of instruments for their senior- and graduate-level design projects. Every student will be prepared to take on electrical engineering tasks after graduation and the EE teaching labs provide essential tools for their success.
The Electrical Engineering Teaching Laboratories are available for students to use outside class time. The open lab schedule is updated every quarter.
