UW Bothell Study Abroad Scholarship
Deadlines: November, April, June
The UWB Study Abroad Scholarship helps to offset travel expenses required to participate in a UW study abroad program. Applicants must be current UWB students enrolled full-time, WA residents, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate a commitment to promoting study abroad opportunities among UWB students as a Study Abroad Ambassador.
2015 Husky Pride Fund Scholarship
Deadline: March The HPF mission is to reduce financial barriers for UW students, like the cost of travel & tuition, to participate in UW Exploration Seminar Programs. Applicants must be receiving Financial Aid. Priority will be given to those who have never studied abroad.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Deadlines: October, March
Funded by US Congress, the Gilman program aims to bring diversity to study abroad. Non-traditional destinations are preferred and programs must be at least 4 weeks. Applicants must be US citizens who are receiving a Federal Pell Grant.
GO! Scholarship
Deadlines: November, April
The GO! Scholarship is funded by the WA Legislature to support students with financial need. Applicants must be WA state residents eligible for Husky Promise or a Federal Pell Grant.
Fritz Undergraduate Scholarship
Deadlines: November, April
Multiple awards are funded each year by the Chester Fritz Endowment. Applicants must full-time UW students, majoring in the Humanities or Social Sciences, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Foundation for Global Scholars Scholarship Programs
Deadlines: November, March, July Multiple scholarships for students participating in credit-bearing study or internship programs abroad. Awards range from $1000 to $2,500. Applicants must be US citizens enrolled in a degree program, have a 2.5 GPA and be going abroad for at least 4 weeks. Additional criteria vary depending on award.
Critical Language Scholarship
Deadline: November
The US Department of State funds 7-10 week intensive summer study of a critical language: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, or Urdu. Applicants must be US citizens.
Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships
Deadline: January
Intended to support students from underrepresented backgrounds in study abroad, the fund offers a total of 18 awards of up to $10,000 each. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Study abroad programs must be a minimum of four weeks long and be academically rigorous. Students may apply prior to committing to a study abroad program.
Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships
Deadline: January
FLAS Fellowships support undergraduate, graduate and professional students in acquiring modern foreign languages and area or international studies competencies. Awards are for UW students studying foreign languages locally or abroad. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.
Boren Awards
Deadline: January
Funded by the National Security Education Program, Boren Scholarships and Awards encourage undergraduates, as well as graduate students, to study less commonly taught languages and cultures in regions critical to US national security interests. The awards offer up to $20,000 for undergrads and $30,000 for grads for year-long programs. Applicants must be US citizens. Recipients commit to work for the federal government for one year post-graduation.
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships
Deadline: January
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a variety of opportunities for Americans to study, conduct research, or work in Germany, including study abroad scholarships, summer study programs, and research internships in science and engineering. Proficiency in German may be required.
Fulbright Summer Institutes in the UK
Deadline: March
Fully funded, 4-6 week study abroad programs at prestigious British institutions to promote Americans’ understanding of the UK. Applicants must be first or second year students, US citizens, have a 3.5+ GPA, and have limited international experience.
