General Scholarships

Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Deadline: September
Financial needs based scholarship program that offers students experience in a diverse and inclusive environment. Awardees complete work sessions during each summer break, increasing their knowledge while assisting intelligence professionals applying your own academic skills. Scholars with matched with meaningful work that relates to their college major. Applicants must be a U.S. citizens, with at least a 3.0 GPA or higher, and have financial need. Award includes up to $18,000 of yearly tuition, and covers transportation to summer work sessions.

Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest
Deadline: December
With up to $5,000 in awards, the Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest is an annual competition that is designed to challenge college students to analyze the urgent ethical issues confronting them in today’s complex world. Students are encouraged to write thought-provoking, personal essays.

Filipino-American Psychology Scholarship
Deadline: December
The Filipino-American Psychology Scholarship was initiated to increase the number of Filipino-American professors, researchers and academics in the field of psychology. In addition to $500, the award also includes mentorship to recipients through individual consultation on research ideas, professional and personal guidance on research, publication and conference presentations and opportunities for involvement and networking in professional organizations.

Barbara Wiedner and Dorothy Vandercook Peace Scholarship
Deadline: March
Up to $250 or $500 for undergraduate first year college students with demonstrated leadership and personal initiative in activities involving: peace,
social justice, and/or conflict resolution. International students and undocumented student are welcome to apply.

American Addiction Centers
Deadline: April
Three annual scholarships up to $5,000 awarded to students who are studying behavioral health, counseling, psychology, social work or related field. Eligible candidates may be full-time or part-time undergraduates or graduate students. Applicants are required to submit an essay addressing a specific prompt as well as complete an application.

Abe Osheroff and Gunnel Clark Endowed Human Rights Fund for Students
 Deadline: April
The Osheroff and Clark fund provides financial resources for undergraduate and graduate students to support human rights projects that promote social change through direct action. The number of awards and amounts of up to $4,000 will vary depending on the number and quality of applications. Preference will be given to projects with the following characteristics: feasibility, hands-on engagement, partnership, and vision.

Division 53 Student Achievement Award
Deadline: May
$1,000 recognizing students for contributions to the field of clinical child and adolescent psychology ranging from research projects, community engagement, mentoring, or clinical work. Membership in Div. 53 is not required, but is looked on favorably. This award is open to all undergraduate students

Enrichement Opportunities

Jackson Monro Public Service Fellowship
Deadline: Late October
Fellowship award ranges from $2,500 to $4,500 to encourage students to life-long commitment to public service by giving them the opportunity to step foot into the community. Students will be selected in November of the year of application and will be awarded Winter and Spring quarter. Expectations of various involvement, leadership course and participate in events through Winter and Spring qtrs.

Fritz Undergraduate Scholarship
Deadline: November, April
Multiple awards are funded each year by the Chester Fritz Endowment. Applicants must full-time UW students, majoring in the Humanities or Social Sciences, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships
Deadline: December
Blakemore Freeman Fellowships are for students who want to spend a year abroad in an intensive language program to improve their Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Burmese or Khmer language skills. Applicants must be pursuing a professional or academic career that involves the regular use of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer or Burmese, have a college Bachelor’s degree. Be at or near an advanced level in the language as defined in the Grant Guidelines, and able to devote exclusively to full-time intensive language study during the term of the grant; grants are not intended for part-time study or research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Carlson Civic Fellowship

The Carlson Center selects three Fellows to work at three local non-profits. Selected students will commit to working with their community non-profit 10 hours per week from January-June 2015 and will receive a $2,500 stipend for their work. In addition to their work with their host site. Host sites in the past have included Entre Hermanos/ LGBT Latino Public Policy and Community Mobilization Fellow, International Rescue Committee / Citizenship-Preparation Program Fellow, and Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (“SCIDpda” / IDEA Space: Public Safety Program Fellow.

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs
Deadline: January
Full-time, nine month, graduate-level experiential leadership training program, including an academic component that prepares diverse, talented and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public affairs arena. Offered in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis. Placements begin in September. Around 70 fellows are selected each year.

The Washington State Psychological Association encourages the participation of all psychologists. The association has been the organization representing the profession of psychology in the State of Washington for more than 60 years and is committed to providing resources for early career psychologists, postdoctoral trainees, and doctoral students.

American Psychological Association
Deadline: Varies The American Psychological Association works with a wide range of organizations to sponsor undergraduate and graduate level scholarships and grants for students pursuing careers in a variety of psychological disciplines. Students can use the APA’s website to locate financial aid programs dedicated to their specific field of study.
