General Scholarships for LEPP students

Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program
Deadline: January
The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service in which they can help formulate, represent and implement U.S. foreign policy. Applicants must be US citizens seeking admission into graduate school for a two-year program at a US university. Award amount is $35,000 annually.

MetLife Foundation FFA Scholarship
Deadline: February
Applicants must be working toward four-year degrees in specific areas of agriculture including public service and administration, agribusiness management, range/soil science, public communications, plant or animal breeding and genetics, education, plant pathology, journalism, technology, extension, mechanization, public relations, finance, economics, sales, marketing or engineering. Award amount is $2,000.

Greenlining Institute Academy Fellowship Program
Deadline: February Annual leadership training program for multi-ethnic students who have completed their undergraduate studies and want experience working on low-income and minority economic development and policy. Through the Main Project Assignment, fellows work independently and develop expertise in a specific program area (banking, health, telecommunications or sustainable development) under the direction of Greenlining staff.

Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Deadline: October
Salary of up to $18,000 per school year for students who are US citizens to conduct work that relates to their college major. Students will be expected to work for the CIA during summer breaks. Minority and disabled students are encouraged to apply. Students must be US citizens 18 years old, have financial need and meet minimum SAT, ACT test scores with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants meet the same employment standards as permanent employees and must be available to work in the Washington, DC area during period of employment.

Law

American Bar Association Law Student Writing Competition
Deadline: January
The American Bar Association (ABA) sponsors a variety of essay and writing scholarships in the amount of $2,500 plus travel expenses for ABA student members. Applicants must write an article about antitrust and have it published in an ABA-accredited school’s law review or journal.

Japanese American Citizens League Law Scholarships
Deadline: April
Applicants must be National JACL members and must be studying law at a college or university. A personal statement, letter of recommendation, academic performance, work experience and community involvement will all be considered. Amount of awards varies.

MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program
Deadline: June
Applicants must be diverse students entering their first year of law school full-time at an accredited institution. They must have a GPA of at least 3.2 and demonstrate financial need. Award amount is $10,000.

Economics

Citigroup Fellows Program

Deadline: Varies
Applicants must major in business, finance, economics, accounting, information systems, computer science/MIS, computer science, business-related, information technology, computer engineering, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The program also provides access to Citigroup professionals as mentors and professional development conferences. Award amount is 6,400.

Mas Family Scholarships

Deadline: January
Scholars may receive up to $32,000 over four years of college and majoring in business, communications, economics, engineering, international relations or journalism. Applicants must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to success in a democratic, free enterprise society as well as be born in Cuba or are of direct Cuban descent.

HORIZONS Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: February
Applicants must be female students with junior class standing. Applicants must also demonstrate interest in a career related to national security and defense, have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and financial need. Preference is given to students in security studies, military history, government relations, engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics, business, law, international relations, political science or economics. Award amount varies.

Policy

Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program

Deadline: January

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who will be seniors or a recent graduates. Graduate and professional degree students as well as individuals with advanced degrees are not eligible to apply. Applicants are encouraged to show evidence of academic achievement and a strong interest in and/or experience working in or with programs that address health issues disproportionately affecting racial and ethnic minorities or underserved communities, this may include previous academic work. Recipients will be placed in congressional offices where they are placed in congressional offices and learn about health policy. They will receive a stipend upon successful completion of the program, daily expense allowance for meals and local transportation, transportation to and from Washington, D.C., and lodging for the summer at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs

The Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs is a full-time, nine month, graduate-level experiential leadership training program that prepares diverse, talented and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public affairs arena. Fellows are diverse, individuals committed to positive change in their communities throughout their lives and careers in areas such as they are business, policy and government.

Carlson Civic Fellowship

Deadline: October

The Carlson Center will hire three Fellows to work at three local non-profits. Students selected as Carlson Civic Fellows will commit a minimum of 10 hours of service per week from January – June, 2015 at the community-based organization at which they are selected to work. Award amount is 2,500.

Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellowship

Deadline: December

One-year, paid opportunity to work as a junior researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC. Applicants must have excellent credentials and submit a thought paper on one of the Endowment’s focus areas, including current issues in the Middle East, Russia and Eurasia, China, the Indian subcontinent/South Asia, democratic change, international economics, non-proliferation and security affairs. Must be authorized to work in the US.
