Veterans Archway

“We honor them by living, learning, loving, remembering their sacrifice, and by creating a better future together.”

On May 28th, 2013 UW Bothell campus welcomed veterans, elected officials, and the community to honor the commitment and sacrifice of student veterans to their country.

The Veterans Archway was organized and planned by the UW Bothell Student Veterans Association. It is located at the northeast corner of the Sports & Recreation field. It is a monument to honor student veterans; the design of the monument includes pillars that form a pathway signifying veterans moving on from service to the sculpted tri-fold American flag sitting atop the center stone. It also includes concrete pavers with engraved seals representing all U.S. military that were deployed.

The Veterans Archway recognizes the service that veterans have made and to celebrate the transition of veterans to academic and civilian life. The project was designed and produced by landscape architect Rich VanDeMark of RVLA. The Veterans Archway is a gift to the university and community by generous contributors, the project was 100 percent funded by donations, and no state or university money has been used. The Veterans Archway was conceived by students, but was not possible without the financial support of Hos Brothers Construction, American Legion Post 161, VFW Post 2995 and many other generous contributors.

The Veterans Archway will be a permanent fixture on campus to welcome veterans seeking an education.
