Join teams with one of SNHS' Global Community Health Partners, Guatemala Village Health, on a two week service experience. This service-learning course is designed to provide students with hands-on primary care/public health experience in low-resource areas of Guatemala.

Dr. Niitsu attends APNA conference
Dr. Niitsu participated in the American Psychiatric Nurses Association 33rd annual conference. The conference, focusing on Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurses: The Whole Health Connection, included 300 sessions and poster presentations on topics related to psychiatric-mental health nursing.

Global Collaboration: SNHS and TMDU
Students and faculty benefit from partnerships in teaching and research. The partnership between Drs. Ezeonwu and Kondo, gives students the opportunity to experience global immersion programs and compare healthcare education and systems in Japan and the United States. Faculty are able to work on international comparative research and engage students on campuses worldwide.

BSN Alumna on Tribal Canoe Journey
Samantha Capoeman, UW Bothell School of Nursing & Health Studies alumna, is a member of the Quinault Indian Nation and a nurse who is working in tribal clinics. Associate Professor, Jody Early, and Sandra Solano-Huber, Community Outreach Manager at Verdant Health, presented their research findings at the Women's Caucus at APHA. The presentation was “Lay health promotion as transnational feminist health activism: Critical consciousness and collective efficacy among Promotoras de Salud.”

Stefan Torres, UW Bothell School of Nursing & Health Studies alumni, has been named as one of the 100 nurses recognized a Nurse Influencers by the UW Seattle School of Nursing. These nurses, whose connection to the UW go as far back as 1930, have made a commitment to improving lives in their communities.

Guatemala Summer Quarter 2018
Summer Quarter 2018 Global Health Promotion in Guatemala: Health Services Delivery in Resource Poor Settings. This service-learning course, conducted in partnership with a community based organization, Guatemala Village Health, is designed to expose students to policy contexts in which health care is delivered in resource-poor settings with particular emphasis on Guatemala.
