How to apply

The type of admission process you follow and the online application you complete will depend on whether you are a transfer or post-baccalaureate student, a current UW Bothell student, or a returning student.

Transfer or Post-Baccalaureate students

  1. Complete the new student online application, linked above.
  2. Write and submit a personal statement (see prompt below).
  3. Submit your official transcript(s). Electronic submission is recommended. You can find more information about sending your official transcripts to UW Bothell by visiting the Admission webpage.

Current UW Bothell students

  1. Complete the internal student online application, linked above.
  2. Write and submit a personal statement (see prompt below).

Official transcripts are not required for internal UW Bothell student applicants. However, be prepared to include your unofficial transcripts for any college you have attended as part of your application.

Returning UW Bothell Health Studies students

  1. Submit the UW Bothell Returning Student Request Form, linked above.
  2. Submit your official transcript(s), if you have attended any institution since you have left UW Bothell. You can find more information about sending your official transcripts to UW Bothell by visiting the Admission webpage. (Note: UW Bothell does not require you to submit transcripts from work done at UW Seattle or UW Tacoma.)
  3. Meet with an advisor to discuss your next steps.

Personal statement

Your personal statement is an opportunity to introduce yourself to the admissions committee and tell us about your interests in studying health. Once admitted to the Health Studies program, your personal statement is used by your advisor and Health Studies faculty to guide you towards career goals and professional experiences.

The personal and professional experiences you share in your statement are as valuable to us as your academic record. Before responding to the prompt below, we encourage you to look through the curriculum and learning objectives for the major to help guide your thoughts. (500 to 650 words)

Prompt

  1. What are some of your professional and personal goals, and how can the Health Studies major help you achieve these goals?
  2. Describe relevant experiences informing your understanding of health. Examples could be personal, professional, community, and/or academic.

Resources

The Writing and Communication Center will provide prospective and current UW Bothell students with guidance on your personal statement’s structure and content. Make sure to bring a copy of your rough draft with you when you attend a drop-in session or scheduled appointment.
