Improving the Health of Diverse Communities Scholarship
This School of Nursing and Health Studies scholarship provides students the opportunity to demonstrate a commitment to community engagement and the health of diverse communities. As part of this scholarship, candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the LGBTQ+ community are considered for the Montana Gray Memorial Fund for an award of $500.00.

October 14 to November 18, 2024
Eligibility: Accepted to one of the following programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Arts in Health Studies, Master of Nursing or Master of Science in Community Health and Social Justice. Enrolled in part-time or full-time credits for the quarter the award is dispersed and in good academic standing (cumulative GPA of 2.0 undergraduate/cumulative GPA of 3.0 graduate).
Instructions: Submit a narrative between 250-500 words addressing how you have engaged with the Health of Diverse & Underrepresented Communities.
Evaluation of submission:
- Evidence of involvement, participation with, or demonstrated support of an underrepresented community (evidence of commitment to the LGBTQ+ community for consideration of additional funds stated in the purpose).
- Specific examples of contribution and impact.
- Self-reflection on contributions to the community.
- Understanding of the community to specific health issues impacting the group.
The availability of funding is limited and varies annually. The awards given to selected recipients may differ based on the strength of the application. Awards typically range from $500-$1,500 for undergraduate student and up to $2,000 for graduate students. The graduate scholarships may be applied to tuition and fees only.
