Melanie Malone receives grant for homeless STEM learning project
IAS faculty member Melanie Malone and research colleagues from universities across the U.S. were awarded a National Science Foundation Advancing Informal STEM Learning (AISL) grant. The project, entitled "RESTING SAFE: Collaborative Informal STEM Learning Between Researchers and Homeless Communities", is centered on mitigating homeless populations' exposure to hazards and contaminants in their living environments, and is also intended to advance STEM learning in homeless populations. The study will be the first of its kind and will involve a national survey of the hazards homeless communities encounter and will document their strategies for survival.
