Ben Gardner and Ron Krabill Receive UW Global Innovation Fund Grant
IAS faculty members Ben Gardner and Ron Krabill received a UW Global Innovation Fund grant to support their upcoming study abroad exploration seminar “Critical perspectives on ecotourism in Tanzania.” The grant will enable Tanzanian students to participate alongside UW students in studying grassroots environmental activism and community conservation in Tanzania. UW students will spend part of their time at a Maasai secondary school collaborating with students and teachers in studying the legacies of colonial conservation policies on community land use and land rights. The program runs in early fall from August 23 to September 20 and is open to all UW students from all three campuses. Applications are due February 26, 2016. More information about the program and online application can be found on the UW Study Abroad Site.
