Embark on a Journey of Discovery: From Bangalore to Mysore
Today, we set sail from the vibrant city of Bangalore to explore the enchanting wonders of Mysore, a captivating destination nestled in the heart of Karnataka.
On the way to Mysore, we were introduced to the concept of Dharma. Dharma, a cornerstone of Indian philosophy, encompasses moral, ethical, and cosmic principles by embodying the idea of fulfilling one’s moral and ethical duties towards family, society, and the broader world while upholding virtues such as truthfulness, righteousness, and compassion. It’s a concept that resonates not just in personal lives but also in the realm of business, where righteousness, duty, and moral principles pave the path to sustainable success.
Strolling Through the Bazaar
We observed these principles throughout the day in the city of Mysore. First, we visited a local bazaar, a colorful marketplace consisting of small stalls and shops selling fruits, vegetables, flowers, incense, and crafts. Locals shop at bazaars because it is more affordable than grocery stores and malls. It is also more personable. The customers repeatedly buy from the vendors because the customers know and trust them.
Ever wondered why there are chilis and limes adorning shop fronts? Legend has it, they ward off bad vibes! Superstitious or not, it sure adds a spicy twist to shopping!
At the bazaar, we chatted with various entrepreneurs. From a young man continuing his family’s hand-rolled incense business to a couple of hardworking vendors selling bananas, every interaction exuded a sense of pride and devotion. It’s not just about business; it’s about honoring traditions and fostering community spirit!
Learn-it-all Culture at Infosys
After the bazaar, we were fortunate enough to go to the Infosys training center campus, where we learned how the company’s culture promotes Dharma in their education programs, employee well-being, customer value, and overall culture. By investing heavily in employee education and growth, Infosys equips its workforce with cutting-edge skills and empowers individuals to realize their full potential on their spiritual and professional paths. Furthermore, Infosys prioritizes the well-being of its employees, recognizing them as invaluable assets in pursuing organizational goals. They are even honored after 15 years at the company by getting to plant a tree on the property with a commemorative plaque.
A Symphony of Lights at Mysore Palace
Mysore is known as “The City of Palaces” due to the many beautiful palaces in the area. We visited Mysore Palace, which is one of the most beautiful palaces in the world and often compared to Versailles in France.
We gathered for a spellbinding light show that transported us through the annals of history. With every flicker of light and melody of music, the palace whispered tales of grandeur and legacy. Designed by the visionary Henry Irwin and once the regal abode of the Wadiyar dynasty, this architectural marvel stands as a testament to Mysore’s rich heritage.
Mysore Palace is the second most visited tourist attraction in India, next to the Taj Mahal. Next time you come to southern India, you have to check out Mysore and the Mysore Palace!
In Conclusion: Charting a Course of Ethical Excellence
In the vast expanse of business and culture, let Dharma be your guiding star. Whether you’re wheeling and dealing in the marketplace or planting seeds of innovation in corporate corridors, let righteousness and compassion be your compass. Together, let’s embark on a voyage towards a brighter, more ethical future. So, fellow travelers, until we meet again, may your journeys be safe and your hearts filled with the spirit of Dharma! Cheers to the journey ahead!
