Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) was founded as a national organization in 1913 and is the Honor Society Serving Business Programs at schools accredited by the AACSB International.
Membership in this honor society is by invitation only and is very prestigious as BGS invites only the very best students in business to become members. An invitation to become a member in BGS is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive. The society has a current membership of approximately 500,000 of the brightest and best of the world’s current and future business leaders. Its mission is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and professional excellence in the practice of business.
To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking of those being considered must place them in the upper 10% of the senior undergraduate class or the upper 20% of the graduating master’s class. Please note that while almost 300,000 students in the U.S. receive baccalaureate or master’s degrees in business each year, less than 20,000 earn lifetime memberships in BGS. In short, BGS is a highly selective and prestigious honor society. If you want more information on BGS, please check out the national organization’s website.
After winter quarter grades are posted, the UW Bothell School of Business will invite those select students who are eligible to become members. There will be an induction ceremony and reception during the spring quarter. On this occasion, we present each inductee with the BGS medallion and pin that they may wear to graduation. Please note that this is a lifetime recognition for outstanding academic achievement which will provide you with valuable opportunities throughout your career. The expanded benefits of membership include BGS CareerCentral (job board), alumni chapters throughout the country and free subscriptions to business publications.
