Walter Freytag is Principal Lecturer Emeritus. He earned his M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Applied Psychological Society.
Dr. Freytag’s professional experience is in the area of human resource management and development. He served as Manager of Management Development at the Frito Lay division of PepsiCo, and he has headed human resource departments at Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory and ATL Ultrasound (now a division of Philips Healthcare).
He has taught MBA and undergraduate courses in leadership, team processes, work motivation and human resource management; however, since his retirement, his primary focus has been on MBA teaching.
Dr. Freytag served as Associate Director from 2005 through 2013 with primary responsibility for the Business School’s undergraduate programs. He was a major contributor to the design of the Business School’s executive development program, and he was also responsible for the management of the program. He is Founding Director of UW Bothell’s Business Development Center, now known as The Entrepreneurship Center.
Dr. Freytag has also held numerous leadership roles in the community and helped establish several Eastside organizations including the Bellevue Entrepreneurship Center and Leadership Eastside.
