Rebecca Cavanaugh nursing alumna recongized for leadership
Inspiring, resilient, strong Nurse Rebecca Cavanaugh, UWB BSN '98, UW (Sea) MN '09 alumna received a honorable award called the School Nurse Administrator of the Year for 2018-19. It honors a school nurse who demonstrates excellence in school nursing practice and leadership. Nurse Cavanaugh oversees 38 school district nurses at 33 schools with about 23,000 students in Bothell, Kenmore and Woodinville.

UW School of Nursing & Health Studies receives top ranking from US News and World Report
"US News and World Report released its rankings of graduate and professional schools across the country, including nursing schools. The University of Washington School of Nursing was ranked #1 among public schools that offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and was ranked #4 overall. Additionally, the School was ranked #4 among public schools that offer a Master’s degree and was ranked #12 overall."

Master of Nursing student awarded Anna Bui World of Hope Fund
Anna Bui scholarship has impacted Samantha Bohn, a School of Nursing and Health Studies Master of Nursing student. Bohn received $1,000 toward a study abroad two week trip to Guatemala Village Health, a Seattle nonprofit organization.

Leadership master’s for nursing administration
Jennifer Collins says, “it was the step into leadership that helped me understand the importance of education that goes along with it.” She participated in School of Nursing and Health Studies Master of Nursing degree with the administrative leadership concentration. This concentration as a focus on business courses which is so valuable for nurses who are moving into higher administrative positions.

Students visit Firland Sanatorium
School of Nursing & Health Studies lecturer Stefanie Iverson Cabral and students in her autumn quarter "Quarantine & Isolation" and "Disease, Human History, Society, and Civilization" courses visited Firland Sanatorium to learn more about tuberculosis treatment in the early 20th century and the "sanatorium cure."

Dr. Nora Kenworthy, assistant professor, participated in the 2018 Political Origins of Health Inequities and Universal Health Coverage international panel. Dr. Kenworthy's topic was related to her research on the impacts of crowdfunding.

Chemical & Engineering News interviews SNHS’ Dr. Lasker
We’re proud to announce that our senior lecturer and Director of Health Studies, Dr. Grace Lasker, was featured in an article by Chemical & Engineering News. Dr. Lasker co-created a symposium at the 22nd annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference (GC&E). The symposium focused on how the chemicals used to create common products impact the environment and the connection between those consequences and environmental justice. After the conference, Dr. Lasker was interviewed by Chemical & Engineering News.
