Community Partner News: Verdant Healthier Community Conference

Register online now for the Verdant Healthier Community Conference, a full day conference on Monday, Feb. 29 at the Lynnwood Convention Center that will bring together several of the Puget Sound region’s leading experts in health, wellness and community building.

Verdant is proud to have Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson, Pediatrician at Seattle Children’s Hospital, as the breakfast keynote speaker for the conference. Author of the popular “Seattle Mama Doc” blog, Dr. Swanson is a practicing pediatrician, a weekly TV reporter, Huffington Post blogger and active thought leader with over 2 million lives touched via social media and the internet.

The day will also include WSU North Puget Sound at Everett’s Bob Drewel as MC and keynote addresses from the Verdant Health Commission and a panel of experts on personal, workplace and community health. In addition, participants can choose 4 of 12 breakout sessions that will cover topics on personal and family health, workplace and group health and the health of the community as a whole. In the breakout sessions, experts from Molina, Senior Services of Snohomish County, Swedish Edmonds, the YMCA, UW Bothell and many other organization will present the most current thinking on a wide array of topics. A few of the breakout session titles are: “How Best to Advocate for Your Health,” “Achieving Health Equity” and “Creating a Move More Culture.” The focus will be on practical education and empowering individuals and organizations to make positive changes to live the healthiest lives possible.
