SEVP Portal
The SEVP Portal is accessible only to students with approved Post-completion OPT and students with the STEM OPT Extension.
Reporting to the SEVP Portal
The first time
To access the SEVP portal for the first time, the following must be true
- Your Post-completion OPT must be approved.
- Your approved start date must have arrived.
- You must have received an email from SEVP.
If the first two criteria are true but you do not have an email from SEVP, please complete the SEVP Portal Reset request in the International Student Portal.
During Post-completion OPT
Throughout your time on Post-completion OPT you will use the SEVP Portal to make updates within 10 days of any change. You must make updates to:
- Your employment
- Your US address & phone number
During STEM OPT Extension
For students with an approved STEM OPT extension, the SEVP portal will only be available for you to change your US address. All employment updates must be made directly to ISS via the International Student Portal.

Known Bugs
My OPT started but I didn’t receive an email from SEVP
- I had Previous OPT at another school or a different education level at UWB. This bug will prevent you from accessing the SEVP portal until ISS requests a fix with the SEVIS Help Desk. You can email us to start the fix, and update ISS about any employment or contact information changes via the International Student Portal.
- I didn’t provide a personal email address when requesting OPT. The UW email forwarding service provided after graduation does not forward SEVP emails. Complete the SEVP Portal Reset request in the International Student Portal and provide a non-UW email address.
- SEVP just didn’t send the email. It happens from time to time and we’re happy to reset your portal account, which will send you a new email. Complete the SEVP Portal Reset request in the International Student Portal and provide a non-UW email address.
