Jennifer Atkinson interviewed on “In this Climate” podcast
IAS faculty member Jennifer Atkinson is featured in a new season of the podcast “In this Climate,” which was released in March. The first episode, Existential loneliness, the climate crisis, and intrinsic hope features an interview with Atkinson (who is currently writing a book on climate despair and hope) and Sarah Jaquette Ray (author of the 2020 blockbuster A Field Guide to Climate Anxiety). The podcast producers timed the new season to launch right after last week’s release of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report.
In a synopsis of the episode, the producer wrote:
What if the science story and the emotion story are the same story? What could we do if we were to deconstruct the dualism of feeling and acting? In this episode, Jennifer Atkinson and Sarah Jaquette Ray walk us through their research on and experience with climate emotions, from grief to guilt to hope. We work on understanding how we can engage with emotions together to help us get into ever-better relationship with each other and the earth.
