Amaranth Borsuk featured in Bienal Internacional Poesia Oeiras
IAS faculty member Amaranth Borsuk was featured this month in the first International Poetry Biennial in Oeiras Portugal, a celebration of poetry under the theme of Power and Democracy. The biennial was held at the Templo da Poesia in the Poets' Park, a public oasis with a futuristic translucent building as its centerpiece. Featuring more than 100 guests from 3 continents; with panels, talks, and performances spanning music, poetry, and film; the festival is part of Oeiras' candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2027.
Several of Borsuk's collaborative and individual digital works are currently being exhibited at the Temple of Poetry as part of an exhibit on Poetry and New Technologies. She also spoke this weekend on the panel "Poetry and Artificial Intelligence" with poet Maria do Rosário Pedreira and AI researcher Ana Paiva via Zoom. Their conversation ranged from how to define poetry to the promises and perils of computational poetics.
