Bruce Burgett co-edits essays related to the events in the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021
IAS dean and faculty member Bruce Burgett co-edited, with Glenn Hendler (Fordham University), a dossier of essays related to the events in the U.S. Capitol on January 6, and their aftermath. “Keywords Now” contains brief elaborations of essays published in the third edition of Keywords for American Cultural Studies, also co-edited by Burgett and Hendler. The elaborations focus on the keywords conservatism (Angela D. Dillard), fascism (Rebecca Hill), intersectionality and populism (Daniel Martinez Hosang and Joe Lowndes), and whiteness (Lee Bedout). As a whole, the dossier evinces the ways in which significant events shape the language we use – and how language we use shapes our ability to understand those events.
