Julie Shayne speaks on a plenary session at the Gender Studies in Georgia conference
IAS faculty member and Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies faculty coordinator Julie Shayne spoke on a plenary session titled “Persistence Is Resistance” at the Gender Studies in Georgia conference. The session was organized to celebrate Shayne’s new open access book Persistence is Resistance: Celebrating 50 Years of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies. Shayne discussed the origins, editing process, and goals for the collection. Also on the panel were Beverly Guy-Sheftall who discussed the “Introduction” to the book, and Judy Howard who discussed her chapter “Turning a Feminist Lens on Administration.” The conference was co-organized by the The Southeastern Women’s Studies Association and the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at Georgia State University.
