IAS board member Leslie Olson supports the Global Scholars program in a big way
On April 4, 2019 all three University of Washington campuses participated in the first annual Husky Giving Day with a 24 hour, high energy, online campaign across all our media channels.
The UW Bothell School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences came in second on the Bothell campus for most dollars raised, thanks in a large part to a $25,000 pledge for the Global Scholars program from UW alum and IAS Advisory Board member Leslie Olson. Leslie has traveled extensively and knows firsthand the power of transformation that comes from learning about people and places outside of her own culture. She is deeply passionate about providing access to students who might not otherwise see a path to traveling abroad during their academic career. The Global Scholars program provides that access so important to Leslie, which is why she has partnered with the Global Scholars team and IAS Dean Bruce Burgett to help drive the success of the new program.
On Husky Giving Day, the central team honored Leslie on their media platforms with a fun video announcing her generous gift at the end of the campaign.
The entire Bothell campus had a remarkable day. Preliminary reports put us at 125 gifts for a total of $144,491. We ranked 6th among all the participating units across all 3 campuses and we are second in total number of dollars raised. The Husky community agrees the first annual Husky Giving Day was a huge success.
