Peter Brooks presents “SWIFT Participation: Hacking the Codes of Academic Writing”
IAS faculty member Peter Brooks attended the 2018 Computers & Writing Conference at George Mason University where he presented "SWIFT Participation: Hacking the Codes of Academic Writing" as part of a two-person panel focused on how to use creative practices within first year writing. Brooks’s presentation focused on using Ludoliteracy (the way we understand rules and games), activity theory, and role playing games (e.g. Dungeons & Dragons) in order to help students approach the different rules within academic genres.
