Kristy Leissle hosts a series of events for new book, Cocoa
IAS faculty member Kristy Leissle hosted a series of events for her new book, Cocoa (Cambridge: Polity, 2018), which explores geopolitics and personal politics in the global cocoa and chocolate industries. Leissle's US book launch was held at the University Bookstore in Seattle on March 7, and other events followed with scholars, industry participants, and chocolate enthusiasts in Portland, OR (Powell's Bookstore); San Francisco, CA (Omnivore Books on Food); Palo Alto, CA (The Chocolate Garage); Atlanta, GA (A Cappella Books); Roswell, GA (CocoaTown); Boston (Taza Chocolate); and Brooklyn (Word Bookstore). Leissle recently discussed Cocoa with Megan Thompson on PBS NewsHour; Julie Rose for Top of Mind, BYU Radio; James Field, for the Geographical Society "I'm a Geographer" column; and Emily Olsen, for The Six Fifty. Cocoa has received positive reviews in the Financial Times and Geographical magazine, and helped to inspire a cocoa futures trader to think differently about his work, as he wrote on Investing.com.
