Alums share professional pathways in social justice and responsibility
On March 6, three IAS alumni shared their career experiences and advice through UW Bothell’s “Professional Pathways Panels” series. Panelists included: Ray Corona, Lauren Fay, and EJ Juárez.
Corona (’13, Society, Ethics & Human Behavior) is a Community Relations Coordinator for UnitedHealth Group, whose overall mission to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone. He is also Founder of the Washington Dream Coalition, a member of the Seattle LGBTQ Commission, and Executive Director of Somos Seattle, a nonprofit serving the queer Latinx community.
Fay (’07, Global Studies) is the Coordinated Entry and Housing Placement Manager at Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC), a large service organization in Seattle that works to end the homelessness of vulnerable people, particularly those living with serious mental or addictive illnesses. She has worked for DESC since 2008 and held a variety of positions in housing programs, shelter programs, and mental health outreach.
Juárez (’13, Cultural Studies) is the Partnerships and Government Relations Manager for The Seattle Public Library. Previously, he was the Executive Director of Amplify, a multi-state organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing people of color, women, and GLBTQI individuals to public office. Juárez is a member of the IAS Advisory Board and also serves on the boards of Seattle Education Access and WA State Commission on Judicial Conduct by gubernatorial appointment.
