Heidi Schauble finds her passion in supporting people with disabilities

Heidi Schauble graduated from UW Bothell with a Bachelor of Arts in Society, Ethics & Human Behavior (’13), and a Master of Arts in Policy Studies (‘15). During this time, she worked as a teacher for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a private, nonprofit school, and she partnered with the Woodinville Rotary to launch the Rotaract Club at UW Bothell, a student club dedicated to civic service.

After completing her masters and a capstone research project on education policy issues in Washington State, Heidi was hired as an Employment Consultant for AtWork!. At Work! supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to find, develop, and retain job opportunities. In October 2016, she was promoted as their Quality and Data Coordinator and was recently promoted again to Quality and Data Manager. In her new role, Heidi is responsible for reporting agency outcomes, providing quality assurance, and tracking outcome indicators in accordance with their grants and funding sources.

Heidi has spent the last five years working with the Northshore Wranglers, a recreation program for people with disabilities, as Assistant Director and Vocals Coach for The Music Project of Northshore. Recently, The Music Project partnered with the Northshore School District to pilot a vocals program which includes students with and without disabilities. May 2017 will mark the first year of this successful pilot in two Northshore schools.

Heidi highlights her interdisciplinary education as an integral part of her professional development. She credits her IAS degrees for her ability to think intersectionally about issues impacting the people she serves in a variety of institutions, services, and settings.
