IAS Students Participate in the Fourth Annual Latinx Graduation!
This year’s Latinx graduation (formerly called Latino/a Graduation) celebrated twenty-seven UW Bothell students, sixteen from IAS. This bilingual celebration has grown every year, and this year was no exception. The top floor of the ARC was full to capacity and organizers had to wheel in more tables at the last minute to accommodate the families and friends present celebrating their graduates. A sizable amount of the graduates this year proudly donned sashes identifying themselves as undocumented. The event included a keynote speaker, Marycarmen Becerra-Núñez, a student speaker, Jaime Ramon García Guerrero (IAS), and the traditional serape ceremony. Following the formal part of the ceremony the event was open mic where students, friends, and family came to the stage and shared their thoughts and well wishes.
Congratulations to IAS students Jessica Velasquez, Alejandra Pérez, Jaime Ramon García Guerrero, Silvia Zenaida Soltero Gonzalez, Ingrid Lujan, Karen Ramirez, Marina Medina, Ruth Medina, Keyla Yamileth Delgado, Cruz Garibay, Karla Sanchez, Helen Alarcon, Alejandra Salgado, Anthony García, Herlinda Rivera, Luis Armando Lopez, and Vanessa Teeter!
