IAS student Alia Marsha’s article, “Why Seattle Times’ “sidekicking” Hollis Wong-Wear is bad for journalism,” appeared yesterday on the Seattle Globalist site. Alia is a senior in Media and Communication Studies, and is editor-in-chief of the Husky Herald, UW Bothell’s student paper. In her article, Alia addresses the treatment of underrepresented populations in American journalism, focusing on a recent article that ran in The Seattle Times about Seattle based white rapper Macklemore.
