Andy Rheaume elected Mayor of Bothell by City Council
Environmental Science alumnus and Bothell native Andy Rheaume (’04) has been elected Mayor of Bothell by fellow City Councilmembers. Andy has served on the City Council since 2012 and was reelected for a second four-year term last November. Andy writes, “I’m honored to serve our city as the Mayor. The City of Bothell is moving in the right direction. My goal as Mayor is to make sure our quality of life is central to everything the city does, and to make sure decisions of the City Council are balanced and well informed.”
While serving in this part-time role, Andy works full-time for the City of Redmond as Senior Planner for Stormwater Utility. Managing stormwater issues, Andy works across stakeholder groups to mitigate and restore natural systems contending with the built environment. Andy credits his interdisciplinary education as training ground for both civic roles, which require broad perspectives and strong communication skills.
