Dan Berger comments on President Barack Obama’s historic prison visit
IAS faculty member Dan Berger spoke to several media outlets in response to President Barack Obama's visit to a federal prison. This visit, the first time a sitting president visited an U.S. prison, coincided with Obama speaking out on mass incarceration. Berger discussed the event and its implications on Africa News Television, WPKN’s Between the Lines program, the Progressive Radio Network, and TeleSurTV. "It is nice to hear a president admit that the United States has a prison problem,” Berger was quoted in TeleSurTV. “If Obama wants to end mass incarceration, he should eliminate solitary confinement, stop immigrant detention, and pursue a much wider usage of commutations."
