Amaranth Borsuk leads Critical Making Webinar and presents work at &Now Innovative Writing Conference

IAS faculty member Amaranth Borsuk led a Critical Making Webinar, hosted by Professor Roger Whitson and sponsored by the Washington State University College of Arts and Sciences. The webinar focused on tools for hands-on teaching with Between Page and Screen, both the physical and digital components of the book. Borsuk also attended the &Now conference at the California Institute of the Arts: Blast Radius — Writing and the Other Arts, where she participated in two panels. She convened "Mixed Doubles: Collaboration and Textual Tensions," which brought together several collaborative duos whose presentations addressed the tensions encoded in their works, the ways digitally-mediated projects can both create and stabilize imbalances, the ways difference or otherness inflect the experience of collaboration, and the engagement whereby duels become duets, and vice-versa. She also presented on the panel "Lyrical Visions: Use of the Image in Contemporary Poetics" with her collaborators Kate Durbin and Ian Hatcher. The team discussed their forthcoming project Abra, a "living text" encompassing a trade edition, artist's book, and iPad app that explore and celebrate the potentials of the book in the 21st century.
