Dan Berger tours east coast to promote Captive Nation
IAS faculty member Dan Berger delivered a series of lectures on the east coast related to his book, Captive Nation. Berger gave a lecture entitled "Prisons, State Violence, and the Organizing Tradition" at Dickinson College. More than 100 students and faculty attended the talk, which was hosted by the Clarke Forum for Contemporary Issues and the Popal Shaw Center for Race and Ethnicity. Berger also spoke alongside attorney and MacArthur Award winner Bryan Stevenson and journalist Victoria Law at the Conversations in Black Freedom Studies series at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City. Additionally, Berger delivered two talks at Saint Ann High School in Brooklyn and conducted a workshop for NYU graduate students in American Studies on how to revise a dissertation into a book.
