Meet the MFA in Creative Writing & Poetics Student Ambassadors
Noor Alnaaz Islam [she/her], 2023 cohort
Noor Alnaaz Islam is a poet, performing artist, philosophy scholar and research assistant, based in Seattle. Originally from Assam, India, she is currently perusing MFA in Creative Writing and Poetics at University of Washington, Bothell. Her poetics revolve around spaces, places, matrilineal identity, movement, and the human condition. She is the curator of Gamut: a reading literary series, her creative work has appeared in The Assam Tribune, Ambrosia zine, and Clamor. Her recent collaboration was in association with celebration of Asian Pacific heritage week by Redmond poet laureate Ching-In-Chen.

Mason Peterson [they/he], 2023 cohort
Mason Peterson (they/he) is a poet, scholar, and multimedia artist located in the Pacific Northwest. They hold a bachelor’s degree in culture, literature, and the arts from the University of Washington, Bothell, where they are currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing. Mason has a background in academic tutoring and classroom support, and they are forever passionate about poetry, fiction, and storytelling in all its weird and wonderful forms. Much of their creative work flits somewhere between the realms of fantasy and reality, exploring themes of the self, the body, and queer joy.
