Replacing a Husky Card

A nonrefundable fee of $25 is charged for replacement Husky Cards due to loss, theft, damage, name and photo changes. Once a new card is printed it will permanently deactivate the prior card.

How to Replace Your Husky Card

Students

You may obtain your replacement Husky Card by visiting the Enrollment Services desk on the lower level of Summit Hall during building hours. You may choose to take a new photo or re-use the image currently on file.

Alternatively, you may request your replacement Husky Card be sent by mail. If you choose this option, your card will be printed using the image currently on file.

To request a replacement card via mail, send an email from your UW email account to uwbreg@uw.edu and include the following information:

  • Full name
  • UW ID Number
  • Reason for request (i.e. lost, stolen, damaged, name change, etc.)
  • Indicate whether to print your official or preferred name
  • Current mailing address (domestic only, we are not able to mail cards internationally)
  • Confirmation that you authorize a one-time charge of $25 for the Husky Card replacement fee on your student account. Replacement Husky cards will not be reprinted without this confirmation

Replacing a Husky Card that includes a U-PASS

There is no additional charge to replace the U-PASS. However, ORCA card readers do not update immediately with new card information, you may be unable to use your U-PASS for transit for 12–24 hours after replacing your Husky Card.

Replacing a Husky Card that contains money

If your Husky Card is lost or stolen and you have money in your Husky Card Account or dining accountt, please visit the Online Card Office to report your card lost/stolen and suspend activity on your account.

Taking care of a Husky Card

It is important to take proper care of your Husky Card. Don’t bend or punch a hole anywhere on your card. The RFID chip and antenna can be damaged, requiring a replacement.

The Husky Card is the property of UW and is not transferable. Allowing others to use your Husky Card is a serious misuse of the card and, as such, subjects you to disciplinary action as described in the University of Washington Student Conduct Code.
