Spotlight: SR-01-25
As a commuter campus, many students have long sought increased transparency from Commuter Services. Parking permits, daily parking rates, and U-PASS fees come at no small cost to our student body, and the freshly-minted ASUWB Senate isn’t waiting any longer to act.
The Senate’s first-ever resolution, sponsored by Eason Chen and titled “A Resolution Calling for Enhanced Transparency, Data Accessibility, and Accountability in UWB Parking and Transit Operations,” identifies a sore lack of publicly-accessible data surrounding Commuter Services—particularly when it comes to the fiscal activity of the department. In response, it calls on Commuter Services to “produce an annual, publicly accessible financial report detailing all parking- and transit-related revenues and expenditures.” The resolution passed both the Senate and Board of Directors unanimously.
