Elected Positions

President

  • Shall serve as the chief representative for the ASUWB to the students, faculty, staff, administration and public.  
  • Shall serve as Chair of the Board of Directors.   
  • Shall serve as an executive voting member of the Board of Directors.  
  • Shall meet with the tri-campus presidents at least once a quarter. 
  • Shall serve as the Vice Chair of all ASUWB Committees, with the exception of the Special Committee for Constitutional Interpretation.  
  • Shall serve as a student representative on the Board of Regents.  
  • Shall report, as necessary, at regular Senate meetings, and shall present a State of the Association report to the Senate each quarter.  
  • Shall meet with the Chancellor of the College and other college administrators as needed to discuss the ongoing direction, policies, events and objectives of the ASUWB. 
  • Shall serve as the voting delegate for the University of Washington Bothell on the Washington Student Association (WSA) Board of Directors or appoint a designee. 
  • Shall with the aid of the Director of Legislative Affairs, direct the organization of a trip for the Board of Directors and/or selected ASUWB members to the WSA conference(s) each year.  
  • Shall, in conjunction with the Policy and Personnel Coordinator, establish and distribute meeting agendas in accordance with the existing regulations of these Bylaws and the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW Chapter 42.30). 
  • Shall maintain periodic communication with the student body.  
  • Shall nominate students for various college committees. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Senate meetings. 
  • Shall serve as a voting member of designated committees, except as otherwise noted.  
  • Shall be proficient in knowledge of the constitution, bylaws and policies of the ASUWB. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Board of Directors meetings.  
  • Shall be allowed up to two (2) unexcused absences from Board of Directors meetings during their term.  
  • Shall adequately describe their ASUWB-related activities to the Senate and/or other officers if and when requested.  
  • Shall not perform personal duties in the name of ASUWB.  
  • Shall not act for partisan political reasons in the name of ASUWB.  
  • Shall submit a weekly written report to the Senate that shall be sent to the Director of Senate at a deadline chosen by them at the beginning of each quarter describing all actions performed in the name of ASUWB.  
  • If the Senate is not in session or the Director of Senate position not filled, reports shall be submitted to the President.  
  • Shall respond to any email in the name of ASUWB within two (2) official business days.  
  • Shall hold at least ten (10) office hours per week.  

Vice President

  • Serve as an executive voting member of the Board of Directors.  
  • Shall collaborate with the President on any matters the President deems necessary.  
  • Shall serve as Chair of the Board Appointment Committee.  
  • Shall oversee the Legislative Liaison, Marketing Coordinator, Director of Legislative Affairs, and Policy and Personnel Coordinator.  
  • Shall, in the event of an emergency during which the President is unable to fulfill their duties, assume the duties of the President until such time as the President is able to act.  
  • Shall assume the position of Interim-President if the Office of the President becomes vacant until a new President is elected. A special election shall occur within 30 days following Article V of the ASUWB Consitution. 
    • The Interim-President shall possess all the powers and responsibilities of the President.  
  • Shall be required to attend all Senate meetings. 
  • Shall serve as a voting member of designated committees, except as otherwise noted.  
  • Shall be proficient in knowledge of the constitution, bylaws and policies of the ASUWB. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Board of Directors meetings.

Director of Finance

  • Shall serve as an executive voting member of the Board of Directors.  
  • Shall serve as the Chair of the Finance Committee.  
  • Shall keep a current and public account of all financial transactions of the ASUWB.  
  • Shall be responsible for maintaining communication with all persons involved in financial decisions of the ASUWB.  
  • Shall be familiar with, and enforce, all financial policies and procedures of the ASUWB and College.  
  • Shall, in collaboration with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee, prepare the SAF (Services and Activity Fees) narrative and presentation for the upcoming academic year in the fall quarter 
  • Shall, in consultation with the Board of Directors and Finance Committee, prepare the budget for the ASUWB and all its operations for the upcoming academic year. 
  • Shall serve as the ASUWB representative on the Service and Activities Fee Committee or designate a representative if they cannot attend. 
  • Shall serve as the ASUWB representative on the Student Technology Fee committee or designate a representative if they cannot attend. 
  • Shall be responsible for the management and facilitation of the Student Academic Enhancement Fund (SAEF). 
  • Shall be responsible, in collaboration with the respective advisors and President, for the recruitment of SAF and STF committee members. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Senate meetings. 
  • Shall serve as a voting member of designated committees, except as otherwise noted.

  • Shall be required to attend all Board of Directors meetings.

Director of Community Partnerships

  • Shall be an executive voting member of the Board of Directors. 
  • Shall conduct assessments on student need, interest, and/or expectations of ASUWB at the beginning of each academic year. 
  • Shall, in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator, coordinate and execute a Town Hall at the beginning of each academic quarter. 
  • Shall meet at least once a quarter with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Vice Chancellor for Advancement, the Campus Diversity Officer, and the Deans for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs to discuss ongoing direction, policies, events and objectives of the ASUWB. 
  • Shall serve as the ASUWB representative or appoint a designee on campus initiative committees, such as but not limited to, committees concerning campus safety, DEI, student health, etc. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Senate meetings. 
  • Shall serve as a voting member of designated committees, except as otherwise noted.  
  • Shall be proficient in knowledge of the constitution, bylaws and policies of the ASUWB. 
  • Shall be required to attend all Board of Directors meetings.  
  • Shall be allowed up to two (2) unexcused absences from Board of Directors meetings during their term.  
  • Shall adequately describe their ASUWB-related activities to the Senate and/or other officers if and when requested.  
  • Shall not perform personal duties in the name of ASUWB.

Vice Speaker

  • Responsible for fulfilling the role of Senate Speaker when the Speaker is not present due to absence, resignation or removal from office.
  • Ensure that Senate decisions are accurately recorded and properly implemented.
  • Act as a checking board for the Speaker and BOD, ensuring Senate resolutions are upheld.
  • Facilitate communication between Senators and ASUWB leadership while maintaining neutrality.
  • Support and guide Senators in legislative matters and initiatives.
  • Support the Senators in scheduling meetings with stakeholders and administration on campus.
  • Serve as the Vice Chair of the Legislative Enactment Committee, assisting in legislative reviews and updates.
  • Promote student engagement in the Senate and encourage representation.
  • Hold minimum monthly check-ins with all Senators
  • Facilitate the creation and publication of the Senate’s quarterly and year end review documents, in conjunction with the ASUWB Marketing Coordinator
  • Coordinate on campus events for the Senators in conjunction with the Senate and the ASUWB Community Engagement Coordinator
