Position Description
Orientation Leaders, (Purple OLs) are student leaders within the office of Orientation and Transitions Program. Orientation Leaders aid in the facilitation and transition of all new students through the varying Advising & Orientation programs. They represent UW Bothell and welcome new members of the UW Bothell community, including first-year students, transfer students, and their supporters. Successful OL candidates must exhibit husky spirit, leadership qualities, and be team oriented. They must also be passionate about helping others, dedicated to OTP’s mission to help incoming students, and possess a desire to develop their own leadership potential. Students must be available to work in person throughout Summer 2024.
Orientation Leaders will:
- Take BCUSP 203 (T/Th 5:45-7:45 pm in person)
- Attend all trainings, retreat, and mandatory orientation dates
- Attend and actively participate in all orientation programming
- Work closely with OTP staff, other student staff, and campus partners
- Acquaint new students and their families with campus
- Facilitate small group interactions and campus tour
- Facilitate and present in front of large groups at Orientation
- Represent UW Bothell in a positive and professional manner
- Promote Husky spirit with enthusiasm

Timeline
This position will begin in spring quarter 2024 and will last until the start of fall quarter 2024 with the possibility to continue until the end of the following academic year. Students must take BCUSP 203 in spring quarter (T/Th 5:45-7:45pm). Students must also be able to attend all training sessions and be available to work up to 10-15 hours a week throughout the year, and 30-40 hours during the summer. The role will follow university guidelines regarding working in-person or remotely.

The orientation leader team consists of Purple OLs and Gold OLs. OTP is currently hiring Purple OLs only. The Purple OL position is described in the description above. Come summer quarter Purple OLs have the opportunity to apply for the Gold OL team and continue to help with the UW1 Welcome Desk, and logistical tasks for orientation. Must be a Purple OL in order to apply to the Gold OL team in Summer 2024.
