Academic Interests
Dr. Naranjo is an interdisciplinary scholar who partners with disabled people and public schools to generate scholarly investigations and constructive applied contributions that broadly address the a) social contexts of school-to-community transition, and b) teacher education for inclusive schooling. Through the study of disability as a social and political issue, Dr. Naranjo’s scholarly contributions squarely address issues of diversity and equal opportunity. He further enacts his scholarship and values through community-engaged program development and the professional preparation of teachers for inclusive practice. Dr. Naranjo’s teaching is organized into two areas and that correspond to his primary areas of scholarship, a) social contexts of school-to-community transition, and b) teacher education and inclusive schooling. The courses that he teaches place central emphasis on the inclusion of disabled students and those labeled with disability in the full life of K-12 public schools.
