Convocation launches year
The incoming class of 2020, new transfer students and their families were welcomed to the University of Washington Bothell at convocation. The ceremony Sunday was the 11th year of the tradition that officially kicks off the new academic year and the 10th year for first year students.

Parking technology arriving
Finding a parking spot on campus should become easier for University of Washington Bothell and Cascadia College students with new technology being installed by facilities services. A new phone app, electronic signs and lighting signals will help drivers find open spots.

This year’s staff appreciation breakfast was a time to honor individuals across our campus who are committed to the success of our students and our campus community. Training, collaboration for campus safety
Campus Safety Director Cham Kao plans continuing training for his officers, increased involvement with departments and students, and more collaboration with the Bothell Police Department. The goal is to ensure that UW Bothell and Cascadia College students, staff and faculty are provided with a safe and secure living, learning and working environment.

Competitive searches bring outstanding faculty
The University of Washington Bothell welcomes 21 new faculty hires in time for the 2016-2017 school year. Eleven are in School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS). Nine are in School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). And, one is in the School of Business. Fourteen are lecturers.

Business school accreditation extended for UW Bothell; AACSB seal earned by fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide
University of Washington Bothell’s School of Business has maintained its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Fewer than 5 percent of the business schools in the world are accredited by AACSB, the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools.

Lagesse, Shayne win faculty mentor awards
Chancellor Wolf Yeigh has presented Distinguished Undergraduate Research and Creative Practice Mentor Awards to faculty members Brent Lagesse and Julie Shayne. Lagesse is an assistant professor in the Computing and Software Systems Division and an expert in cyber security. Shayne is a lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences and faculty coordinator for gender, women and sexuality studies.
