Welcoming students back

Fall is finally here, and for the University of Washington Bothell, this means the beginning of another exciting academic year. Staff and faculty are looking forward to welcoming back the many returning students, new transfers and the first-year class of 2020.

Putting the fun in fundraising

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the UW Bothell Alumni Council will host its signature Husky football viewing party. Proceeds from the viewing party, which is hosted in partnership with Technology Access Foundation (TAF) and the School of Educational Studies, will support teacher equity in Washington state. Mentoring new researcher, innovation

Mentors at University of Washington Bothell helped a promising high school student start work on an augmented reality therapy for amputees, a project that won him $90,000 in science fair scholarships. Afeef Sheikh is a senior at Redmond’s Tesla STEM High School looking forward to continuing his research in college.

Data analysis links autism severity to genetics, ultrasound

Researchers found a link between exposure to first trimester diagnostic ultrasounds, genetics and increased autism severity. The study published today in “Autism Research” was conducted by Pierre Mourad, professor at UW Bothell and UW Medicine, along with researchers from UW Medicine and Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

Daniel Jaffe, chair and professor of physical sciences, School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at University of Washington Bothell, is an expert on pollution sources, particularly wildfire smoke in the western United States and ozone air quality standards in the summer.
