The UW Bothell Course Equivalency Guide indicates how courses taken at a Washington State community or technical college will transfer to the University. Below, are some helpful instructions about how to interpret this guide.
Column 1 (Course number): Lists community/technical college course details: prefix, course number, and number of credits (in parentheses). Example: BUS& 201 (5)
Note: Most of the courses listed in the Equivalency Guide follow the Common Course Numbering (CCN) system, designated by an ampersand (&) and a common three-digit code.
Column 2 (Course title): Lists the course title for the community/technical college course (e.g., General Chemistry I).
Column 3 (UW equivalent): Indicates how the course will appear on your UW transcript, with corresponding UW course prefix & number (e.g., GERMAN 101).
Column 4 (UW Bothell equivalent): Indicates the corresponding UW Bothell course prefix & number, when an equivalent course exists (e.g., B MATH 122). Courses without a specific course equivalent, but satisfy a UW Bothell requirement, are noted accordingly (e.g., MATH 1XX) .
Column 5 (UW requirement): Indicates how the course satisfies UW General Education requirements (see table below). If field is blank, the course does not satisfy any requirements.
UW Bothell course prefixes used in the course equivalency tables
The tables that follow include the UW Bothell prefixes that appear in the Course Equivalency Tables (Column 3). UW Bothell course prefixes (Column 4) follow the same naming convention as the University of Washington Seattle campus, with the exception that most (but not all) prefixes begin with a ‘B” (e.g., B CHEM 143).

The course may be new, and a review may not yet be completed. The length of time required to review a course can vary widely.
The course may not appear in the community college catalog. For a course to be considered for review, the community college must include the course in its past, present, or future catalogs.
To find out how an unlisted course will transfer to the UW or to ask an admissions question, contact the Office of Admissions.
