With the end of the calendar year comes a time to reflect on the milestone moments that happened across the University of Washington Bothell campus in 2023.
Each year, keystone events mark the academic seasons. In a Commencement Ceremony on June 11, the latest class of graduates — numbering more than 2,100 — walked across the stage at T-Mobile Park. In September, the university welcomed the largest incoming class in its 34-year history — with 1,186 first-year students and 510 transfer students.
Among the annual ebb and flow of celebrating one class and welcoming another were those events that were exceptional to 2023, such as the opening of Innovation Hall to serve as a new home for the School of STEM, which this year celebrated its 10th anniversary. In the fall, the University also saw the opening of the Terrace Dining Pavilion and of Summit Hall, the first of three new residence halls to open on campus over the next two years.
In this year-end news review, we share these and other highlights from 2023. We encourage you to check out the stories below, as well as these other honors and awards of our students, faculty and staff.
