Latino Program in Washington Encourages Young Latinos to Pursue Higher Education

Undergraduates at UW Bothell participated in the Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI) program to help young Latinos build confidence and leadership skills for pursuing higher education. Not only were Bothell High School students able to receive mentorship from LLI participants on college preparation, resume workshops, and financial aid sessions, but this program also addresses the scarcity of college-related resources. UW alumni and mentors emphasize the significant influence of LLI and hope to foster leadership and education in Latino communities through its further expansion across cities.

The Latino Leadership Initiative (LLI) program is a cohort program supporting Latino/a/x students. Partnering with a local partner, Latino Education and Training Institute (LETI), UW Bothell students can explore the path to acquire leadership in their community while gaining valuable networking and civic engagement experience.
