First ISCRM fellow, Djelli Berisha, from UW Bothell
Sophomore Djelli Berisha has become the first UW Bothell student to receive a fellowship through UW's Institute for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM) fellowship program intended to launch careers and expand opportunities in stem cell research. This state-funded fellowship offers an all-around career boost that includes a stipend, waived tuition, benefits, speaking opportunities, and a chance to participate in public outreach initiatives.
Bryan White, Senior Lecturer, Biological Sciences, worked with ISCRM to ensure that one summer fellowship slot was reserved specifically for a UW Bothell undergraduate student. According to White, “the goal of UW Bothell's participation is to pick an exceptional young undergraduate student in their sophomore year who might not have felt traditionally represented in science…” Read more about the fellowship in this ISCRM article, featuring both Berisha and White.
