Services

UW Bothell IT Academic & Collaborative Technology in partnership with UW-IT Accessible Technology Services offer a variety of accessibility services for the UW Bothell campus. If you have any questions, please contact Ana Thompson via email thomana@uw.edu or to schedule an appointment, please use our Bookings page.

Workshops

We offer group or individual staff training on creating accessible documents, learning about universal design, accessibility in Canvas, PDF accessibility, etc. To request a workshop for your group, contact Ana Thompson via email thomana@uw.edu or phone at 425-352-3794.

Canvas course accessibility assessments

We offer accessibility assessments for Canvas courses where we work with a faculty member to do training and review course files, content or design to determine actions needed. This process may take at least 2 weeks to get started and it is set up on a first come, first serve basis. We work in partnership with faculty to assess content and make recommendations to improve the accessibility of a Canvas course.
To get started, submit a Request for an Accessibility Assessment (UW login is required).

Online training

Accessibility 101, our online training option offered in Canvas, is a self-paced course that offers a set of five modules with quizzes and some optional content. These modules can be studied in order for a more scaffolded experience, but individual topics can also be accessed as needed.

UW free PDF remediation service

If you have PDFs that are reusable and high impact , you can apply to have those files remediated (made accessible) by Access Technology Services (ATS) PDF Document Remediation Service. If approved, the files will go into a queue for remediation and you will be notified when they are finished.

UW free captioning service

ATS will caption a limited number of UW videos without charge through a service supported by UW-IT. Individuals, departments, and other units at the UW are encouraged to apply for funding to caption highly-visible, high-impact, multiple use, and/or strategic videos. For more information, contact Susie Hawkey (shawkey@uw.edu).

Examples include:

  • Videos available to the public on a high-use website
  • Videos that will be used multiple times in a course
  • Videos developed by several faculty members to be used in several different classes

If you are interested in applying for this service, please submit the UW Captioning Service Application.
