A team of three University of Washington Bothell business students finished high in the annual competition organized by the Chartered Financial Analysts Society of Seattle.
The competition with five other schools came down to a presentation by three finalists on Feb. 24, and the University of Washington Bothell team finished second behind Seattle University.
For the competition, the teams analyzed the prospects and stock valuation of Esterline, a Bellevue aerospace company. The teams met with top executives and analyzed information to prepare a 10-page report to the CFA Society.
The team of Hongzi Jin, Andy Liang and Linda Lin was advised by faculty members Gowri Shankar, Ph.D., who also holds a CFA, and the late Phil Palm. They also received guidance from Derek Leonard of Wells Fargo, who was their professional mentor.
School of Business Dean Sandeep Krishnamurthy congratulated the three for continuing a tradition of strong showings by UW Bothell teams in the annual competition.
