Tim Wilson named dean of student affairs at University of Washington Bothell
BOTHELL, Washington — The University of Washington Bothell has selected Timothy L. Wilson as its next dean of student affairs, effective July 10, 2018.
Wilson moves from Seattle University where he is now assistant vice president for student development. Previously, he served as coordinator for the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Black Culture Center at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he also earned a doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis.
“During the search process, Dr. Wilson was recognized for his strong leadership as well as his extensive management background, superb communication skills and deep experience in creating and supporting inclusive campus communities,” said Susan Jeffords, UW Bothell vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Wilson said he identified UW Bothell as an institution that actively embraces diversity, critically challenges its own assumptions and works toward positive change on and off campus.
"I have been waiting my entire career to work at a campus like UW Bothell, a place where students, faculty and staff come together and strive for excellence each and every day,” Wilson said. “I am simultaneously thrilled and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next dean of student affairs at UW Bothell, and I can't wait to get started."
As head of the UW Bothell Division of Student Affairs, Wilson will oversee offices that foster student engagement and personal and professional development. These include student engagement and activities, orientation and transition programs, residential life and student conduct, career services, recreation and wellness, veterans services and disability resources, the counseling center and the diversity center.
With his arrival, Wilson will take over from Emily Christian, who has filled the position on an interim basis since the departure of George Theo last year.
