President’s Medal to Kaheerman Saibire
An international student from China who learned English less than four years ago, Kaheerman Saibire was selected for the President’s Medal, which honors a student with a top GPA.
Chancellor’s Medal to Angelica Mendoza
A double major with a triple minor, Angelica Mendoza was awarded the UW Bothell Chancellor’s Medal. Asked what she wants to do, she says, “I want to do it all.”
Civic Leadership Awards for Navarro, Akhidenor
University of Washington Bothell students Ariana Navarro and Charity Akhidenor were recognized for their civic engagement with awards from the Washington Campus Compact, a coalition of 37 two- and four-year colleges.

Distinguished Teaching Award to Julie Shayne
The 2019 recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award was Julie Shayne, senior lecturer in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences and faculty coordinator for Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies.
Distinguished Research Award to Surya Pathak
Surya Pathak, an associate professor in the School of Business, was awarded the Distinguished Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity award.
Andrea Stone receives Mentor of the Year Award
Andrea Stone, who mentors students as an assistant professor and a substance-use researcher, received the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Research & Creative Practice Mentor of the Year Award.
Early Receives National Mentorship Award
Jody Early, associate professor in the School of Nursing & Health Studies, received a national mentor award from the Society for Public Health Education.

Distinguished Staff Award to Sam Al-Khoury
Sam Al-Khoury, who helps shape the college experience for UW Bothell students as director of the Office of Student Engagement & Activities, received a 2019 UW Distinguished Staff Award.

Nurse Stefan is UW Bothell Alumnus of the Year
Stefan Torres (Nursing & Health Studies ’14), who has gained fame and influence with his Nurse Stefan videos on social media, received UW Bothell’s first Alumni of the Year Award.
Neil Low, Distinguished Alumnus of the Year
Retired Seattle police captain and mystery writer Neil Low (Liberal Studies ’03) received the 2019 UW Bothell Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Nursing Alumna Recognized for Leadership
Rebecca Cavanaugh (BSN ’98), the health and nursing services supervisor for the Northshore School District, received the School Nurse Administrator of the Year award from the School Nurse Organization of Washington.
IAS Alumna Named to 40 Under 40 List
Using skills from a Master of Arts in Cultural Studies from UW Bothell, Priya Frank’s work at the Seattle Art Museum led to her recognition as one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.
UW Bothell Alumnus Receives Seattle Pride Award
