The school year has just begun, but it’s not too soon for the class of 2018 to start planning transitions to careers.
Soon-to-be graduates had a chance to sharpen their focus on career development at the Senior Kickoff. The two-day event in early October at the Activities and Recreation Center was the first ever held by University of Washington Bothell Career Services, and more than 100 seniors attended.
The seniors received strategies for entering the job market or graduate school plus tips on interviewing, references, recommendations and salary negotiation. Similar advice and services are available throughout the year at the career services office in the Student Success Center in UW-1.
The Senior Kickoff was co-sponsored by Techtronic Industries and the UW Bothell Office of Alumni Engagement, with a presentation from Curtis Takahashi, left, (IAS ’04) of the Alumni Council.
Seniors will have one of their first opportunities to hand out resumes to potential employers at the All-Industries Career Fair and the Tech & Engineering Fair, both held on Oct. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Activities and Recreation Center and the North Creek Events Center.
“We hope that this Senior Kickoff event serves as a helpful next step in their professional development journey. Career Services is here to support them in whatever way we can this year and after graduation. We want them to stay connected and let us know how we can be helpful!” said Samara Reynolds, director of career services.
